Articles of Association
Article 1

The association is called "Handleiðslufélag Íslands". Its domicile and venue is in Reykjavík.

Article 2
The company's goal is:
· To promote the development and utilization of guidance in the work of professionals.
· To promote the maintenance of theoretical and practical knowledge about  guidance with lectures and seminars.
· To introduce guidance as a profession and discipline, - its advantages
  and value in professional work.
· To protect the interests of those who work in mentoring and promote that they meet the highest requirements for knowledge
  and ethics at work.
· To promote cohesion among members and co-operation with comparable associations in other countries.

Article 3

The association is intended for university-educated professionals who have completed recognized at least 3 years of study in tutoring. The study shall cover both theoretical knowledge and practical training.

An application for membership shall be sent to the chairman or other board members who submit the application to a board meeting. Supervised students may be granted additional membership in the association. An additional member pays a lower membership fee and has no voting rights.

Article 4
The company's board consists of 5 people; chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, treasurer and 1 co-manager. 2 deputies shall be elected to the board.  The chairman shall be elected separately. The board shall be elected for two years. Furthermore, 2 inspectors shall be elected. The company's Board of Directors divides tasks.

5.gr.
The company's board can appoint committees to work on certain projects within the company. Standing committees shall include;
    Ethics Committee - which monitors ethical requirements in the field of guidance and accepts suggestions, is
      related to the work of a tutor.
    2. Education Committee, which organizes annually  educational program on behalf of the company.
           
Article 6

The Annual General Meeting shall be held each year before the end of May and shall be convened with half a month's notice.
The Annual General Meeting is legal if it is lawfully convened.
At the Annual General Meeting, the work of the Board of Directors shall be reported and the company's accounts signed by auditors shall be submitted.
The operating plan for the next operating year and its costs shall be presented at the Annual General Meeting.
The election of the Board of Directors and the election of other officers of the Company shall take place at the Annual General Meeting.
Membership fees shall be decided at the Annual General Meeting. They shall take into account the company's results and operating plan.
Amendments to the law shall be discussed at the Annual General Meeting. Proposals for amendments to the law shall be received by the Board one week before the Annual General Meeting.

Article 7
.
An association meeting shall be held when the board decides or at least 7 members request it in writing.
Association meetings shall be convened in the same way as the Annual General Meeting.8. gr
  These Articles of Association will only be amended at the Annual General Meeting with the votes of 2/3 of the members.
  Approved at the company's inaugural meeting at Hótel Saga on June 23, 2000.

Handís' ethics committee consists of three members, Díana Ósk Óskarsdóttir, Guðrún Einarsdóttir and Sveindís Anna Jóhannsdóttir.

Code of Conduct

 

Article 1
The basis of guidance is respect for the recipient of the guidance, his or her human dignity and uniqueness.

Article 2
The mentor shows honesty and respect towards the mentor and strives to create mutual trust.

Article 3
The aim of mentoring is to strengthen the skills of the mentor and professional confidence, so that he can make the best use of his talents and find a career path for them.

Article 4
The supervisor shall maintain confidentiality regarding all matters that he or she witnesses at work.

Article 5
A supervisor can refuse a request for guidance, for example, due to family-friendship, co-operation or other connections.

Article 6
The tutor should empower the tutor to find appropriate solutions to each of the tasks he or she brings to the tutorial.

Article 7
The tutor is responsible for maintaining his knowledge and skills in tutoring and monitoring innovations in the field.

Article 8
A mentor works to create public confidence in mentoring by promoting it and doing nothing that could diminish the opinion of the industry.

Article 9
The supervisor shall not use the relationship with the supervisor himself to his advantage.

Article 10
The supervisor should not have sexual intercourse with the supervisor.

Article 11
A supervisor at work should not be under the influence of alcohol or other substances that dull his judgment and attention.

Article 12
If it is found in the supervision that the supervisee has committed an offense at work, then the supervisor has a duty to encourage the supervisee to talk to his / her supervisor.

Otherwise, the supervisor will report the matter after consultation with the supervisor.

Article 13
If the supervisor becomes a criminal, the person receiving the supervision can refer their case to the Ethics Committee of the Icelandic Guidance Association, which makes an opinion to the board, if the ethics committee deems action necessary on the part of the association.

Article 14
The Ethics Committee maintains confidentiality regarding the matters that come before it.

Article 15
The ethics committee consists of three members of Handís. The committee reviews the code of ethics and accepts suggestions related to the work of a supervisor.

Article 16
Supervisors respect the skills, responsibilities and responsibilities of other supervisors and do nothing in their work that diminishes their reputation.
